Amazon India’s consumer electronics head Ranjit Babu quits: Report

Ranjit Babu, the head of consumer electronics at Amazon India, has reportedly resigned. This marks another senior-level exit for the e-commerce giant.

The development was first reported by The Economic Times.

Ranjit Babu had a tenure of over a decade at Amazon India and served as the chief executive of Cloudtail, the company’s largest seller, between 2021 and 2022. In December 2023, he assumed additional responsibilities from senior executive Noor Patel, who transitioned to Amazon US. By July 2024, Babu was appointed as the head of consumer electronics, overseeing the crucial smartphone category.

In September, Amazon announced Samir Kumar as the new country head for India. Kumar, who also leads Amazon’s consumer businesses in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey, succeeded Manish Tiwary. Tiwary had left the company in August 2024 to pursue opportunities outside the organization.

Amazon is also preparing to enter the quick commerce market—currently dominated by BlinkIt and Zepto—in the first quarter of 2025.

Meanwhile, Amazon India’s revenue from operations grew by 14.5% in FY24 to Rs 25,406 crore compared to Rs 22,198 crore in FY23, according to data intelligence platform TheKredible.
