Berlin-based startup Apheris, a pioneer in federated computing technology, has raised €20.1 million in its Series A funding round. The round, led by OTB Ventures and eCAPITAL, with participation from existing investors Octopus Ventures and Heal Capital, positions Apheris to scale its operations and revolutionize secure data collaboration in the life sciences sector.
Founded in 2019, Apheris addresses a critical bottleneck in healthcare by enabling secure, private, and governed data sharing without moving sensitive information. Its Compute Gateway platform allows AI and machine learning models to utilize decentralized data, providing solutions to regulatory and commercial sensitivities. This technology has already attracted major pharmaceutical clients like Roche and Johnson & Johnson, along with hospitals.
With plans to establish the largest secure life sciences data network by 2025, the startup aims to unlock the untapped 97% of healthcare data currently inaccessible due to trust and privacy concerns. Apheris is leveraging this funding to expand its network of biopharmaceutical clients, deploy advanced AI models, and enhance its product offerings for more transformative outcomes in healthcare research and innovation.
Backed by investors with deep expertise in cybersecurity and life sciences, Apheris is well-positioned to redefine data collaboration in healthcare. Its platform not only ensures data security but also drives significant advancements in AI-powered decision-making.
This Series A funding enables Apheris to strengthen its leadership in federated computing, setting the stage for further innovation and growth in AI-driven healthcare solutions.
