Online astrology platform Astrotalk has appointed Siddharth Prakash Singh as its first chief technology officer, Inc42 has learnt
Singh will work closely with Astrotalk founders Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain to bring technological innovations to the company
The development comes five months after Astrotalk raised INR 110 Cr to expand its product offerings and shore up offerings in regional languages
Online astrology platform Astrotalk has appointed Siddharth Prakash Singh as its first chief technology officer, Inc42 has learnt.
Singh will work closely with Astrotalk founders Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain to bring technological innovations to the company.
He comes with an experience of over 14 years. Previously, he worked with tech giants Google and Adobe. Singh will be involved in the following functions at Astrotalk:
- Building robust infrastructure and improve performance for domestic and international growth
- Building personalisation for better user experience
- Enhancing AI/ML infrastructure for better customer-astrologer matching
- Helping the company become IPO ready
- Readying the platform for new business opportunities – ecommerce, spiritual/devotion industry
Confirming the development, founder and CEO Gupta told Inc42, “We were always looking for a leader in tech with experience in leading products at scale. Having someone like Siddharth, who has seen a much larger scale in his career with tech giants like Google and Adobe, is the best thing that has happened to us. As we are scaling rapidly, we need the best tech infrastructure and it can only be done if you have a strong leadership team. I am very excited to work with Siddharth and look forward to learning a lot from him.”
The development comes five months after Astrotalk raised INR 110 Cr to expand its product offerings and shore up offerings in regional languages. Prior to that in February, it raised $20 Mn in its Series A funding round from New York-based venture capital firm Left Lane Capital.
Founded in 2017 by Gupta and Jain, Astrotalk has seen significant growth in recent years. It earns 90% of its revenue from astrological consultations.
The startup’s profit surged 16X to INR 100 Cr in FY24 from INR 8.4 Cr in the previous fiscal year. Operating revenue more than doubled to INR 659 Cr during the year under review from INR 282 Cr in FY23.
Currently, the startup claims to have over 70 Mn users with 12-14 Lakh daily active customers.
Astrotalk is backed by the likes of Left Lane Capital and Elev8 Ventures, and has raised a total funding of over $34 Mn till date. It competes with the likes of AppForBharat, Astroyogi, InstaAstro, Meloha, among others.
