Exein Raises €70M to Expand AI-Enabled IoT Cybersecurity Globally

Italian cybersecurity innovator Exein has closed a €70 million (~$81 million) Series C funding round, pushing its total raised capital to over $106 million. The round was led by Balderton, with participation from Supernova, Lakestar, and existing investors 33N, United Ventures, and Partech.

Headquartered in Rome, Exein specializes in AI-enabled IoT cybersecurity, offering real-time threat detection capabilities embedded directly into devices. The company’s solutions are tailored for sectors such as automotive, healthcare, energy, robotics, semiconductors, and critical infrastructure, where connected devices must meet stringent compliance and security standards.

Rather than relying solely on traditional network-based defenses, Exein empowers manufacturers to embed modern security frameworks directly within their hardware and firmware. This embedded model ensures devices are safeguarded from zero-day vulnerabilities, backdoor exploits, and compliance issues across global markets.

Founded in 2018, Exein’s technology helps companies prevent attacks at the device level—minimizing data breach risks while improving regulatory adherence. The company is also developing runtime security tools for AI infrastructure and large language models (LLMs), addressing the growing need to protect on-device AI deployments.

The fresh capital will drive international expansion across the US and Asia, while also reinforcing Exein’s market leadership in Europe. Additionally, the funding will fuel strategic mergers and acquisitions, enhancing its ability to meet the complex cybersecurity demands of an increasingly connected world.

With embedded AI-enabled IoT cybersecurity becoming a core priority for device manufacturers, Exein’s approach is setting new standards for how security is integrated into the Internet of Things.
