Stuttgart-based AI robotics startup Sereact has raised €25 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate the deployment of its cutting-edge Vision Language Action Models (VLAM) in robotics. The round was led by Creandum, with participation from Point Nine, Air Street Capital, and notable business angels such as former Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg and Mehdi Ghissassi (ex-Google DeepMind).
Founded in 2021 by Ralf Gulde (CEO) and Marc Tuscher (CTO), Sereact specializes in AI-powered robotics software that equips robots with advanced visual reasoning and manipulation capabilities. This enables robots to adapt to dynamic, real-world environments and perform tasks autonomously, moving beyond rigidly programmed sequences. “With our technology, robots act situationally, adapting to dynamic tasks in real time,” explained Gulde.
Sereact’s flagship innovation, PickGPT, combines zero-shot visual reasoning and natural language instruction, allowing non-technical users to operate robots with ease. This breakthrough makes it possible for customers to deploy Sereact’s solutions within a single day, immediately realizing operational efficiencies and cost savings.
The startup’s AI systems are already used by major clients like BMW, Daimler Truck, Bol, and Active Ants. By enabling robots to handle tasks ranging from precise object handling to complex logistics and manufacturing processes, Sereact optimizes workflows, detects anomalies, and sets new benchmarks for flexibility and efficiency in autonomous systems.
“Robotics is the next frontier for AI,” noted Johan Brenner, General Partner at Creandum. “Sereact’s software-first approach positions them as the potential brain for any robot requiring vision and autonomy, opening endless opportunities.”
Sereact’s rapid adoption in warehouse automation and beyond has created a flywheel of real-world data, allowing its systems to continually improve without relying solely on synthetic data. This capability is crucial as robotics increasingly addresses challenges like labor shortages and productivity bottlenecks in industries such as e-commerce and logistics.
The new funding will be used to expand Sereact’s R&D efforts to support additional robot hardware platforms, including mobile robots and humanoids, while also venturing into more complex tasks beyond logistics and manufacturing. Additionally, the company plans to strengthen its presence in the US market through new partnerships and an expanded local team.
“We’re on an exciting journey to democratize robotics and redefine autonomous systems on a global scale,” said Gulde. “This funding enables us to push technological boundaries and create transformative solutions that impact daily life and business operations worldwide.”
