Kisankonnect, an agritech startup backed by Shilpa Shetty, has raised Rs 31 crore (approximately $3.75 million) in a pre-series A round. The investment was led by Green Frontier Capital (a climate tech-focused fund), with participation from Dhanuka Agritech Ltd., VC Grid, and other family offices.
Kisankonnect helps farmers in sustainable farming and selling the produce directly to consumers through its D2C app and farm stores. Presently, it has more than 1 lakh customers in Mumbai and Pune, and it is growing every day. The company has tie-ups with farmers’ communities to grow crops in a sustainable and responsible way, and it also has its own in-house technologies to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to customers via its vast distribution network.
The new investment will be used by the company for further growth and optimizing the supply chain. It also intends to use the funds to increase activity in climate-focused smart agriculture initiatives with its existing farmers’ communities. It will also invest in further expansion and add more farm stores to the distribution network.
The company’s founder and CEO is Vivek Nirmal, and it is headquartered in Maharashtra, India.
