Online travel platform EaseMyTrip has announced the appointment of Rikant Pittie as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Pittie, who co-founded the company in 2008 and served as its Executive Director, succeeds his brother Nishant Pitti, who stepped down for personal reasons.
In his new role, Rikant Pittie will spearhead EaseMyTrip’s strategic initiatives, focusing on innovation and enhancing customer experiences to solidify the platform’s industry leadership. Pittie brings over 15 years of experience across technology, human resources, and hospitality, alongside his deep understanding of the online travel ecosystem.
The announcement comes amidst EaseMyTrip’s financial recalibration. The company reported a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of â‚ą26.8 crore for Q2 FY25, a 42.8% decline compared to â‚ą46.9 crore in the same period last year. Sequentially, PAT dropped 20.9% from â‚ą33.9 crore in Q1 FY25. Despite this, the company’s revenue from operations saw a marginal 2.1% year-on-year increase to â‚ą144.6 crore in Q2 FY25, though it dipped 5.2% from â‚ą152.6 crore in Q1 FY25.
Looking ahead, EaseMyTrip is exploring opportunities in sustainable mobility. The company recently announced its entry into electric vehicle manufacturing through its subsidiary, Easy Green Mobility, with YoloBus serving as the operational arm. EaseMyTrip plans to invest â‚ą200 crore over the next two to three years in research and development, product innovation, and setting up a manufacturing facility for electric buses.
“We are entering a transformative phase for EaseMyTrip,” Rikant Pittie remarked in a statement. “While there are challenges, the opportunity to drive innovation in both travel and sustainable mobility is immense. I’m committed to leading the company to greater heights.”
EaseMyTrip’s diversification strategy underscores its vision to blend cutting-edge travel solutions with environmentally responsible initiatives, positioning the company for sustained growth in a competitive market.
