Sarvam AI, an India-based generative artificial intelligence and machine learning startup, has raised $41 million (approximately Rs 342 crore) in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Lightspeed India, with participation from Peak XV Partners and Khosla Ventures.

Sarvam AI is working on full-stack generative AI and ML models based on Indian languages and diversity. It is specifically focused on the Indian market and developing LLMs that are focused on voice-first interfaces. After ChatGPT, which is based on a text-based generative AI model, many AI companies have been launched, flourished, and are innovating. Sarvam AI is working on a voice-based generative model, which is something very innovative, and investors very much believe in the company’s mission and capabilities. That’s why, in just 5 months of launch, the company has received this enormous funding and came out of stealth mode.

The new investment will be used by the company for future growth and development. It will also deploy the funds for team expansion in research, engineering, and product development.

The company’s co-founders are Dr. Vivek Raghavan and Dr. Pratyush Kumar, and it is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
