Reppo Labs, a groundbreaking Crypto x AI company spun out of Protocol Labs Venture Studio in March 2024, has successfully raised $2.2 million in funding. This investment will support the development of critical infrastructure aimed at enabling permissionless collaboration between data owners, warehouses, and AI developers. Reppo is building an intent-centric Data Exchange that facilitates direct data access negotiations, removing intermediaries and unlocking the potential for price discovery in previously siloed datasets.
The company’s approach uses programmable IP co-ownership as an incentive mechanism, ensuring that data owners—who may not initially recognize the value of their data—receive fair compensation from the downstream revenue generated by derived intellectual property. This innovative model ensures fair use and compensates contributors across the AI ecosystem.
Reppo’s CEO and Founder, Raghav (RG) Rmadya, shared his insights on the future of AI and data collaboration, stating, “The days of spoon-feeding AI are soon to be over. AI models and agents will need permissionless ways to self-source their data to grow and stay relevant.” Rmadya further emphasized that current data pipelines are drying up, citing key industry challenges highlighted by AI experts such as Ilya Sutskever at NeurIPS.
With this funding, Reppo aims to solve the AI ecosystem’s growing demand for niche, off-chain data, which is often untapped. The company’s work incubating AI auditors for solar farms on the Glow Network is a prime example of how accessing previously hidden data can lead to decentralized and automated solutions, creating a ripple effect across other industries like DePINs (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks).
The $2.2 million funding round saw participation from leading investors, including Protocol Labs, CV VC, CMS Holdings, and angel investors such as Charles Songhurst, Thomas France (Ledger co-founder), and others. A significant portion of the funds was raised through Echo.xyz, with the first allocation selling out in under 10 minutes.
Brad Holden, Partner at Protocol VC, praised Reppo’s systems approach and the company’s focus on solving complex problems in the Web3 and AI sectors. “Their ability to contextualize and solve challenges they faced at Filecoin makes them uniquely positioned to tackle AI/ML bottlenecks in areas like insurance underwriting and node auditing,” said Holden.
Reppo Labs is poised to reshape the AI and data landscape, unlocking access to critical off-chain data and fostering the next generation of decentralized AI agents and models.
